TUUNGANE DANCE

An Intercultural Practice Of Sustainable Connection

between Germany, Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda

An initiative by Jana Winterhalter

Artwork by Simone Mutert

"Because the question of how we want to create together shapes the answer to how we want to live together as a diverse one world's society."

(Jana Winterhalter)

TUUNGANE DANCE joins dance creators from Kampala (Uganda), Nairobi (Kenya), Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) and NRW (Germany) who understand intercultural, sustainable exchange on eye level as the base for a contemporary mode of collaboration – artistically and beyond. In the TUUNGANE DANCE online platform dancers, choreographers, scholars, institutional representatives, project managers, dramaturgues,... come together as an online community that targets conversations, exchange of perspectives and artistic creation beyond the period of one dance production or performance. Through a diversity of constant sharing formats like live-talks, video messages and shared artistic practice they build a solid base for a long-term connection on an artistic and personal level. TUUNGANE DANCE is all about collective growth through conversations, exchange of perspectives and fusion of potentials.
